"Bailiwick Ranch" was a summer horseback riding business started in 1963 by Maria & Alfred Koschitzki. Today, their legacy lives on as "Bailiwick Animal Park & Riding Stables" owned & operated by Maria & Alfred's son Garry.

the Bailiwick

The name Bailiwick comes from the main house, where the Koschitzki family has resided since 1963. The Bailiwick, which is situated in the middle of the grounds and can be seen immediately upon entering, it is a Scottish style castle designed & built by Ashcan school artist, Everett Shinn. 

The ranch is located on 300+ private acres nestled at the foot of the Catskill Mountains. The Riding Stable, started in 1963 born out of a love for horses is still in operation today. We offer guided mountain tours everyday of the year, including holidays. We are home to over 50 horses & ponies. 

The Animal Park, started in 2007 covers about 4 acres and is home to over 40 exhibits of domestic & exotic animals, most of which are rescues or have been adopted. The park is open to the public from April to November. It includes a playground, picnic areas, petting & feeding areas, & educational shows held daily. Having grown up around exotic animals their entire life, it was only natural The Koschitzki family opened the Animal Park after the Catskill Game Farm, next door neighbors, closed their doors to the public for good in 2006.
